Howard-McCray Refrigerators

For over one hundred years, Howard-McCray has been helping commercial clients with their cold storage needs. The company produces a line of refrigerator products, with a focus on display cases and similar items.

Howard-McCray started to grow back in 1887, when Elmer E. McCray first founded the company in Kendallville, Indiana. At the time, McCray was interested in coming up with better ways to prevent food from spoiling and prolong shelf life of biodegradable and temperature sensitive items.

McCray’s goal was to not only help company’s reduce money lost on food gone bad, but o also protect the public from bacteria and spoiled food. With the help of his father, McCray constructed a cold storage room, which received a patent in 1882.

Adding to the company’s offerings, McCray began building wooden ice display cases. In 1949, the Howard company was founded by Albert Fogel, who later acquired McCray in 1975. The result was the Howard-McCray company.

Howard-McCray manufactures a wide range of commercial refrigerator products. Business owners can purchase walk in freezer units that can maintain temperatures ranging from 35 degrees Fahrenheit to -5 degrees Fahrenheit. Reach in models are also available and come equipped with wheels for easy movement.

Display refrigerators and freezers are also available and are designed with clear glass doors. Customers can quickly view products without opening the door. Some models come with wheels as well as varying sizes for customized display potential.
